The Government Medical College, Srinagar, also known as GMC Srinagar is a Medical College located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The college and hospital are approved and recognized by the Medical Council of India since the year of inception of college.The college is located in karan nagar area of srinagar,about 1.5 Km from Lal chowk.The college has a nice reputation.This is the dream college of medical students of Kashmir.Till 2019,it used to give admission to 150 students for pursuing MBBS.However from 2019 the seats have been increased to 187.The fee structure is same for all the medical colleges of kashmir,however in 2019,the newly admitted 1st year students were charged an extra amount of Rs 5000 as hostel development fund.

Apart from MBBS, In 1966 PG Courses in Pre-Clinical subjects where started it was in 1968 Post graduation course in clinical subjects got under way in GMC. With time govt. Medical college started training of Para-Medical staff like Radio-graphers, Lab-Technicians Lab-Attendants , Pharmacist , Nurses and sanitary Inspectors.
