Punjab NEET PG Counselling 2026: Official Process, Seat Matrix, Management & NRI Quota

Punjab NEET PG Counselling 2026 is the centralized, merit-based state admission process for postgraduate medical degree and diploma courses (MD, MS, and PG Diploma) across government and private medical colleges, administered online by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot.

50% of postgraduate seats in Punjab Government Medical Colleges are surrendered to the All India Quota (AIQ) managed by MCC, while the remaining 50% of government seats and 100% of private medical college seats are administered by BFUHS.

1. State Quota (50% in Government Institutions)

  • Comprises 50% of seats in Punjab Government Medical Colleges (Government Medical College Patiala, Government Medical College Amritsar, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot).
  • Reserved for candidates with valid Punjab domicile/residency, or MBBS graduates from a recognized Punjab institution; reservation applies for SC, BC, EWS, and PwD.
  • Fee: Highly subsidized government academic fee scale.

2. Management Quota (Private Medical Colleges)

  • Open management seats across private colleges like Dayanand Medical College Ludhiana, Christian Medical College Ludhiana, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute Amritsar, and Adesh Institute Bathinda.
  • Open to NEET PG qualified aspirants nationwide; Punjab domicile not mandatory.
  • Fee: Regulated private tuition fee, varying by clinical specialization.

3. NRI Quota (Private & Minority Medical Colleges)

  • Dedicated NRI Quota seats across private and minority medical colleges; government colleges do not offer NRI/Management Quota for PG courses.
  • Open to NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and foreign nationals who qualify NEET PG 2026.
  • Fee: Premium international fee tier payable in USD or INR equivalent for high-demand clinical specialties.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have qualified NEET PG 2026 conducted by NBEMS with the mandatory minimum qualifying percentile (50th Gen/EWS, 40th SC/BC/ST, 45th UR-PwD).
  • Must possess a recognized MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate from an NMC-recognized institution.
  • Must have completed or be scheduled to complete the mandatory 12-month rotatory internship by the official cutoff date.
  • Must hold permanent or provisional medical registration issued by NMC or Punjab Medical Council (PMC).
  • State Quota: Must satisfy Punjab domicile conditions. Non-Punjab candidates are eligible only for Private Management and NRI Quota seats.

  1. Portal Registration: Create a candidate profile with NEET PG Roll Number, Name, DOB, and active contact details.
  2. Payment of Application Fee: Pay the mandatory state counselling application fee and processing charges online and print the receipt.
  3. Form Filling & Quota Claim: Complete personal, academic, internship, and category details; select State Quota, Management Quota, or NRI Quota.
  4. Uploading Scanned Documents: Upload photograph, signature, NEET PG scorecard, MBBS degree, internship certificate, registration certificate, and Punjab Domicile proof.
  5. Profile Verification & Defect Rectification: Monitor status and rectify any flagged document defects.
  6. Merit List Publication: BFUHS publishes the official Punjab State Merit List and Category Lists.
  7. Option Registration: Submit and lock preferred colleges and specialties in order of priority.
  8. Allotment & Physical Reporting: Download the provisional allotment letter, pay the tuition fee online, and report physically to the Principal/Registrar of the allotted college for verification.
