Optimize your NEET 2026 choice filling with 19 years of expert strategy. Get personalized medical college preference lists for AIQ & State Quota. Don't leave your seat to chance.
Choice filling is not just a list — it is a mathematical strategy. Once the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or State authorities process your rank, they look at your choices in descending order of preference. If you place a lower-tier college above a premier institute, you will be allotted the lower-tier college even if your rank qualified you for the better one.
In Round 1, the goal is to aim high but stay realistic. Lock your Dream and Probable colleges at the top. Always include a confirmed Safe college to avoid going unallotted.
Round 2 is your upgrade window. If allotted a Safe college in Round 1, re-order your choices to push Dream colleges higher. Many premium seats open up as candidates withdraw.
If you fill choices in the wrong order, the MCC allotment engine will assign you the first available college from the top of your list that matches your rank. A lower-ranked college placed higher will be allotted over a premier institute you actually qualified for. This is the most common and costly mistake in NEET counselling.
You should fill as many choices as possible — ideally covering all colleges where your rank is competitive. Our experts recommend including a strategic mix of Dream (top 20%), Probable (middle 50%), and Safe (bottom 30%) colleges to ensure you are never left unallotted.
The Mop-up round can be highly rewarding but carries risk — you may lose your existing allotment if you don't secure an upgrade. Whether to participate depends on your current allotment quality, your rank, and the colleges available. A personalized expert assessment is strongly recommended before making this decision.
